So I have been trying to figure out how to use our old oatmeal containers. One way I reuse them is to store colored pencils. Here I used an 18 oz canister and covered it with some scarp fabric. I ironed all the seams under then with a sponge coated the canister with mod podge and applied the fabric carefully. Now I have a place to store the boys colored pencils drawing time. Another use I have found with these is to cut a circle or slender rectangle in the lid with an X-Acto knife, then have the kids insert objects like poker chips, pencils, straws. This helps develop fine motor skills.

from boring to interesting
So a lot has changed since I started making cards 12 years ago. I now know the importance of embellishments, adding depth, and using textured and printed papers. So I have decided to revamp some of my "boring" cards that I have made over the years that are sitting on my shelf. Here is an example of one I did tonight. I took a sunflower stamped on a sage green and added some much needed color, depth, and texture to create a whole new card!!

Wedding crafts
Here are a couple projects I made for a dear friends wedding this past weekend.
Epson Salt Luminaries
I used baby food jars (And I have plenty of those!!), I put 2 drops red food coloring to 1 cup Epsom salt to get the pale pink, then I added some extra flare by adding a black ribbon. I made about 40 in all.
Ring bearers pillow- the Bride wanted something NOT white so I made this up for her. (wedding colors were black, pink, silver.
